Philosophy

My approach to sound design begins with conversation. I start by meeting with the director to understand their vision—the emotional tone they want to evoke, the storytelling goals, and the atmosphere they imagine for the production. From there, I dive into the script, identifying key themes, moments of tension or release, and any stage directions that suggest specific ideas. If the story references unfamiliar settings, cultures, or time periods, I do my own research to ground my work in accuracy and context.

When creating sound effects or crafting a sonic environment, I focus on shaping elements that support the mood of the show while remaining truthful to its world. Whether the design calls for subtle ambience or highly stylized effects, my goal is always the same: to build an immersive experience that feels authentic and enhances the audience’s emotional connection to the story.
